Seaver was a head of household residing in Batavia township, Genesee County, New York. The household included one free white male under age 5, one free white male aged 15 to 20, one free white male aged 20 to 30, one free white female under age 5, one free white female aged 15 to 20 and one free white female aged 20 to 30 ( 1840 United States Census, Genesee County, New York, Population Schedule, Batavia, Page 501, FHL Microfilm 0,017,188). No trace of this family could be found with an extensive search of the 1850 US Census on www.ancestry.com, which has an every name index. Searches were made on surname, given name and no name (with age and birthplace) for both William and Harriet in New York. In the 1870 US census, the William Seaver family resided in East Chester, Westchester County, New York. The household included William (age 55, Prot. Ins. Company, $10,000 in real property, $10,000 in personal property, born NY), Harriet Seaver (age 51, keeping house, $2,000 in personal property, born NY), and William Hull Seaver (age 13, born NY). [FHL Microfilm 0,552,613, page 203, dwelling #125, family #135]. OBITUARY: A Death notice was published in the New York Times newspaper, dated 10 January 1883. It reads: “DIED. SEAVER.—At Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Sunday, Jan. 7, suddenly, of pneumonia, Wm. A. SEAVER, in the 38th year of his age. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at his late residence, On Wednesday, the 10th inst., at 1 o’clock P.M. Friends are requested not to bring flowers.” |
