William Pangborn Ross, son of Morris and Mary (Pangborn) Ross was born on 10 April, 1812, in Rahway, New Jersey. On 4 June 1837, he married Mary Maria Herrick in Yates County, New York. Mary was born on 17 March 1818 in New York and died on 20 May 1884 in Geneva Township (Walworth County), Wisconsin. William died 14 February 1887 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The family moved to Walworth County, Wisconsin in 1838. According to R. L. Ross, William Ross was a farmer and school teacher. He served as town commissioner and was an organizer of the Baptist church. His account book is at the Historical Society in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
