William Green Rasberry enlisted with two nephews (one with the same name) in the Confederate Army. He served in Company's D and H, 29th Alabama Infantry Regiment. Family story is that he came home on sick leave from the army, and having recovered was getting ready to go back and report. Rode his horse over to tell uncle goodbye. Riding home from his uncle's the horse threw him into a tree and his injuries caused his death. He evidently lived long enough to sign his very shaky "X" to a will (I have copy), but died the same day.

The Rasberry Cemetery where his parents and many of his siblings and other relatives are buried is located near the present day town of Isabella, Alabama.

  6. He had no child born to him that was Jr. According to Azalia McGranahan Thomas of Sandy, Utah, The suffix used by him of "Sr." was to distinguish him from a nephew with the same name. The nephew with the same name went by the suffix "Jr." to distinguish him from the uncle with the same name.
