Mary Mullins, wife of Green Rasberry. lost at least two grandsons, and son William Green Rasberry, and two son-in-laws during the Civil War - whether from disease, accident, or war wounds. She may have suffered even greater losses: these are only the ones I have found so far. Two grandsons, sons of James Rasberry, who enlisted with their uncle William Green, died within a matter of months from disease incurred in military service in the C.S.A. The story of William Green Rasberry's death is given with his entry. Husbands of two of her daughters also appear to have died while in the Confederate Army; I do not know the exact causes of their deaths. Still, this family was hard hit by the war.
The census of 1870 shows Mary, a widow, living in Baker County (later Chilton County), Alabama with her daughter, Mary Jane Oden, also a widow, and Mary Jane's children M.A.E. (female) age 11, and W.M. (male) age 8, and a grandson, Jack Hayes, age 18, who was working on the farm.
