    William [Pryor] married Sarah Wood [b. 4 Dec. 1726] on 27 October 1747. He was Sheriff of Goochland County (of which Amherst County was then part) in 1753-54, and served as a colonel in the Virginia militia. He died in 1777. William and Sarah had several children including William (b. abt. 1753), Sarah, Joseph, Elizabeth (b. 10 Feb. 1757), John (b. 21 Feb. 1759), Patty (b. 6 April 1761), Martha (b. 6 April 1761), Samuel (b. 12 Jan 1762), Mary (b. 4 Feb. 1764), Matthew (b. 16 Feb. 1765), Ann (b. 5 June 1766), Valentine Wood (b. 18 Jan. 1768), and Luke (b. 25 June 1768). The younger William married Elizabeth Hughes in Cumberland County on 16 May 1776, and they had three daughters, Sally, Patty and Mary between 1777 and 1779.
