William James "Wid" Meadors
Birth: Nov. 25, 1822, Whitley County, Kentucky, USA
Death: Aug. 17, 1909, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA
Burial: Bolton Cemetery, Dean Springs, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA
William (a.k.a "Wid") was the first child of Jacob M. & Jane W. Meadors, born in Whitley Co., KY. Oral family history is that he married the oldest daughter of Francis Nathaniel & Delila Moore, Critty Ann, in 1842 & began his family there. Legend has it that their 5th child, Jacob, was born enroute to Arkansas in 1851. However, census data reveals that their 4th child, Polly Anna, was born in AR in May 1850. So we can assume that Wid migrated from Whitley Co., KY that spring. He & his wife Critty had a large family with 11 children (see Critty's bio). After his wife's death in April 1882, Wid married Emily Jane Smith in August 1882 & his last 2 children, William & Alice Julia were born from this union.
William, with his family, were the first of the Jacob M. Meadors family to leave behind their loved ones & friends in their homeland of Whitley Co., KY. By late fall in 1850 they were enumerated in the 1850 Crawford Co., AR Federal Census.
