The 1920 U.S. Federal Census of Livingston Parish, Louisiana lists Bridges as a log sawyer married to Minerva Acord and having two children.

Ella McMorris (now Aime), daughter of Bridges' brother Theodore, recalled seeing Bridges before his death when she was a little girl. She explained that his skin was yellow in color. My grandfather and his brother, Eugene, were told that Bridges had gal-bladder surgery and that he died after the surgery incision reopened when he stepped off the porch of his home to run a hog out of his front yard. My grandfather also was told that family members used to bath Bridges in water with baking soda dissolved in it. His death certificate states that he died from:

"internal hemorrhage -- contributory: congestion of the liver and operation on liver and stomach -- duration: 1 year -- last operation: 1926." The time of death is listed as 6:30 p.m. on January 31, 1928.

His World War I draft registration card, signed June 5, 1917, describes him as being a medium height, being slender, and having dark blue eyes and light hair. Bridges lists his occupation on this card as farmer.
