Wm. McEwen, b. 1744, son of James and Isabella (Miller) McEwen, md. 24 Oct. 1779, Sarah Kerr, daughter of David Kerr of Rowan County, NC. David, Daniel and William McEwen settled in Williamson County, TN in 1798, arriving there before their mother, their brother James and sister Margeret, wife of Gen Joseph Dickson. Wm. McEwen was a citizen of KY on 9 July, 1789, but a citizen of Davidson County, TN on 10 Sept. 1799 (Davidson Co. Deed Book A, pg. 344). His wife Sarah was a member of the presbyterian church of Franklin, TN as early as 1811. After the death of her husbanc in 1847, Sarah (Kerr) McEwen went with her son Cyrus, to Oxford, Miss. , where she is buried. Wm. McEwen, his daughter, Jane Goff and his son James are buried in his old home "Springland", 2 miles east of Franklin, TN, on Spencer's Creek. The settlement of Wm. McEwen's estate is recorded in Will Book 1819-1825, pg. 36, Williamson, TN Their children were David, Margaret, Jane, Cyrus, James and Ephraim. Sarah was sister of Mary Kerr, who married her cousin James Kerr, 1776, in rowan County, NC. James and Mary Kerr, later settled in Logan County, Kentucky, where he died 13 March 1823.
