William May was born on 22nd July 1884 at 46 Claremont Street in Plymouth, son of Louisa Kate May, formerly Harry, and her husband William May, a compositor printer. William was the couple's first child; they had married less than a month earlier. Sadly baby William died as a small baby. His death was registered in the July to September quarter of 1884, showing that he lived no more than a couple of months.
