About William Martin MacAloney

William Martin MacAloney was born in 1868 in Wolfville, Kings County, Nova Scotia. He married twice; first on 6 April 1888 in Boston, Massachusetts [Source: Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988] to Annie E. Randall, daughter of Nathaniel Randall and his wife Margaret and second bef. 1920 prob. in Massachusetts [Source: 1920 Census Records] to Cora B. Parmenter, divorced from Willard "William" Parmenter and daughter of Jonas Parmenter and his wife Martha May.
He was a Farmer in Nova Scotia and (accorging to the 1920 Census) came to America in 1895, when he brought his family down to Westminster, Worcester County, Massachusetts he had a dairy farm there in town. It was known as the "Raymond Farm", and later named the "MacAloney Farm", which sold milk in bottles to residents in the Westminster area. Later, the bottling machines were sold to another family that lived next door who went into bottling and the cattle were sold to a farmer in Orange, Massachusetts. William MacAloney's occupation was listed as a "Forman, in the Trucking Stable Industry" on the 1920 U.S. Census and his son Robert, then age 15 was listed as a "Helper in a Livery Stable", most likely working for his father. Mr. MacAloney died in his home on 8 March 1943 in Westminster, Massachusetts and was buried in nearby Woodside Cemetery.

Westminster March 8: William MacAloney,'74, of Westminster street who died in his home about 9.30 o'clock last night, will be in the home Thursday at 2 o'clock. Rev. Clarence Fogg of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery. Born in Nova Scotia, Oct 12 1868, Mr. MacAloney had lived in Westminster for 17 years. He operated the Raymond farm. He leaves his wife, the former Cora Parmenter; three sons, Frank MacAloney of Gardner, William MacAloney, a patient In the Veterans Hospital in Rutland, and,Robert MacAloney, of Erie, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Annie Garneau of New Jersey; a brother Walter MacAloney of Nova Scotia, and several grandchildren.


Westminster Mar 12, 1943 funeral of William M. Macaloney of Westminster street, who died Monday night, was held in the home yesterday at 2 p. m. Rev. Clarence Fogg, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated. Bearers were Chester Baker and Albert Gates of Westminster and Howard Bryant, Arthur Smith, Jack Ward and Joseph Hancock of Fitchburg. Burial in Woodside cemetery.

A petition has been presented to said Court for Probate of a certain iinstrument purporting to be the last will of the said deceased by Cora B. Macaloney of Westminster in said County, praying that she be appointed executor thereof without giving surety on her bond. If you desire to object thereto you or your attorney should file a written appearance in said Court at Worcester before ten o'clock In the forenoon on the thirteenth of April 1943, the return day of this citation.
