  4.   There is a conflict of sources. William Locke and his then wife Alice named William's daughter as Edith Locke. But our Edith Locke married John Macomber 8 Jun 1607 before the dates of their wills in 1611. Why then did they not name her Edith Macomber? Although the occupations of this family and the occupations of the Macomber family of Bridport, Dorset is a good fit and the proximity of Cerne Abbas, Dorset to the place of marriage at Bridport, Dorset is also a good match.

This William Locke, Tanner of Cerne Abbas, Dorset, England who wrote his Will 27 Oct 1611 proved 29 November 1611 naming a wife Alice and a daughter Edith did not marry to Edith Talbot.

Edith Talbot daughter of William Talbot and Alice Henning was baptized 10 Jan 1598 at Buckland, Newton, Dorset, England.
After making provision in his will, written in 1615 and proved 3 Feb 1616, for his eldest daughter, Alice Talbott, their father William Talbott of Broadmayne writes the following of his younger daughters, including Edith:

"I give and bequeath unto Anne Talbott Edith Talbott and Elizabeth Talbott three other of my daughters one hundred pounds a piece of _____ lawful money to be paid unto them or theire' assigns within six months ... "

Edith married a William Locke on Oct 27, 1618 at Portesham, Dorset. This is long after William Locke presumed father to our Edith Locke, Tanner of Cerne Abbas, Dorset died in 1611. So it couldn't possibly be true.
