_DCAUSE: pneumonia Records in the Hancock County Clerk's office read as follows: This day, William Lee Lamar of the said County of Hancock and Commonwealth of Kentucky, aforesaid, personally appeared before the undersigned, James E. Stone, Clerk of the County Court of Hancock County and being duly sworn, states that on the 22nd day of March, 1852, he brought into the said County of Hancock and Commonwealth of Kentucky a negro man slave, named John Quiincy, about 22 or 23 years of age, of black complexion with a scar in the lower part of his forehead between his eyes supposed to have been caused by a wound; that he had been the owner of said slave for about 10 years in the State of Virginia, by gift from his father, William Lamar of Berkley County in said State of Virginia; that said slave had been hired out in said State for several years past, and that about the 12th day of March, 1852, he started from said County of Berkley, Virginia with said slave and brought him to the said county of Hancock in Kentucky on the said 22nd day of March 1852, as aforesaid that the said slave was brought into the state by him for his private use alone; and that the slave was not purchased or obtained by him for speculation to be sold for profit or as merchandise. Lamar The recors in the Hancock County Court Clerk's Office further states that: William Lee Lamar, father of Williaim Lee Lamar, Jr. to whom an undivided interest descended from said Williaim Lee Lamar deceased. Susan Ann Faulconer, Widow of William Lee Lamar, Sr. is entitled to a dower interest during her life times. |
