Will of Wife Sarah

Will of Sarah Kinkead, of Pencader Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware, deceased, will written, March 18, 1773, probated, June 7, 1773.
In the name of God, Amen, this eighteenth day of March anno dom: one thousand seven hundred and seventy three. I, Sarah Kinkead of Pencader Hundred and County of New Castle, widow, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind & memory, thanks be given to God. Therefore calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it; and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching the small worldly estate herewith it hath pleased God to bestow in this life, I give and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
Imprimis: First, my will is that my funeral expenses and my just debts be paid out of my estate.
Item, I give to my son, James Kinkead the some of two shillings and six pence, if demanded.
Item, I give to my son, Thomas Kinkead the sum of two shillings and six pence, if demanded.
Item, I give to my son, Joseph Kinkead the sum of two shillings and six pence, if demanded.
Item, I give to Rebecca Osten the sum of 2 shillings and six pence, if demanded.
Item, I give to Anne McDoughey the sum of 2 shillings and six pence, if demanded.
Item, I give to Sarah Williams the sum of 2 shillings and six pence, if demanded.
Item, I give, bequeath, and devise unto my daughter Jane Kinkead all the residue of my estate both real and personal, lands, ussages, and tenements by her, her being executor, administrator and assigns forever; and I do constitute, make and ordain my daughter Jane Kinkead sole executrix of this my land will and testament and do hereby utterly disallow, revoke, and disannul all and everyother fomer testaments, wills, legacies and bequests and executors by me in anyways before named, willed, and bequeathed; ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
Signed, sealed & published pronounced and declared by the said Sarah Kinkead as her last will and testament in the presence of the subscribers:

Personally appeared before me Abel Davis one of the subscribing witnesses to the above will and being duly sworn do say that he did see and hear Sarah Kinkead sign, seal, publish, pronounce, and declare the wrotten instrument of writing as her last will and testament that all the time of so doing and saying she was to the best of his belief of sound and disposing mind and memory that she did subscribe her name as an evidence thereunto at her request and in her presence and that he did see Thomas James, Esquire sign as the other witness at the same time.
In testimony whereof I have present at my hand at New Castle this 4th day of June 1773.
