William George King (c1840-1901) Farmer, editor.

Born at London, England, he married Adelheid Minner at Frankfurt, Germany. They had four children: Oliver King, Walter King, Percy King, and Clarence King. The family emigrated to Canada around 1877. He came to Manitoba in November 1882 and spent 15 years farming. In 1895 he replaced H. C. Clay as editor of The Patron’s Advocate, the official organ of the Patrons of Industry, and, after the paper folded the next year, he became editor of The Brandon Independent. He died at Brandon on 12 April 1901 and was buried in Brandon Cemetery.
