When William KERSHAW was 20 he worked on Whaling boats out of Hobart. His first Voyage was in 1862 on the "Alladin" and later he worked on the Barque "Asia" in 1884. When he married Elizabeth POINTON he worked as a gardener. After his wife left him, William went back to whaling.
