Jeff's date of birth "doesn't seem to match the dates on some of the photos of him as a baby" [daughter Elizabeth Jan. 1, 1999]. "The photos also show him as a very sickly child probably one of the reasons he was sent back to England from India. Nanny was born in France, Lily Esther De Neumann (possibly not her real name) March 21, 1877. My father never said much about his youth other than that it was spent at boarding school with vacations spent with a family in England. I do have the name of an accounting firm (?) his father worked for in India (?) on a mug that was given to him. There are family photos presumably of his father's side but no names or dates." ... "Nanny was his adopted mother because his father's first wife died in childbirth (I think)." His original given name may have been George William, changed to William George in 1938 when he joined the Canadian Army. He originally was in the Palestine Police, which he allegedly joined in 1931.

A George William Jeffery attended Dover College middle school in 1920. Margate College Poor School has George William Jeffery kicking three goals for them in 1925. In 1935 he was in Canada distributing tea for Nabobn/Lipton's.
