In the 1880 Census William was living with his parents but working as a surveyor. Living as a boarder in the household of William and Frances Melton in 1900.

From Burch book, pg 14: "William Stephen, served in the Legislature and Treasurer Chesterfield county for several terms; born 1852, paralyzed entire right side 1894, died 1916, never married."

From a desc: "buried next to Grandma and Grandpa Burch in Old St. David's in Cheraw. I got in touch with the Cemetery Association and made arrangements to have his gravestone straightened up and cleaned." (2010)
