William emigrated to USA in 1753 to Connecticut. His faith was Episcopalian. William developed the Imus Pear in the US. He had a brother Alonzo, who was a goldsmith and emigrated to NY after their father's death. He was b. in London and d. in New Amsterdam, New York. It is believed that his mother was Lord Sterling's sister.
