On October 21, 1640, assisted by Rev. John Davenport and Gov. Eaton they organized themselves into a Congrational Church and sailed to the east end of Long Island, "Now Southhold" They cast lots to see who would be first to set foot on the shore. The first was WILLIAM HALLOCK. It has since been known as "Hallock's Landing."
