Mr. W. Smith Graves BURLINGTON — Mr. W. Smith Graves, 87, of 514 Alamance Road, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs.. Mary Clapp Graves and the son of Mr. Joel S. Graves and Mrs.. Bertha Smith Graves, both deceased. He was retired from Kayser-Roth Corp. and was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs.. Frank (Billie) Scobey of Burlington and Miss Patsy Graves of the home; a sister, Mrs.. Robert (Nell) Mooney of Burlington; a brother, Mr. Ben W. Graves of Burlington; and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs.. Ralph (Betty) Braxton; and a brother, Mr. Joel Wake Graves. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville by Dr. Charles Adams, pastor, and the Rev. Lee Ellis, former pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 8:30 this evening.
