Daily Times-News, The Thursday, December 05, 1974 Mrs.. Bertha Smith Graves, 87, of Alamance died at a.m. today in her home. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Q.A. and Emily Robinson Smith. She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church, of the United Methodist Women and of the Betty Isley Sunday School Class. She was an honorary steward of the church. Survivors include: husband, JOEL S. Graves of the home; daughters, Mrs.. Betty Braxton of Burlington and Mrs.. Nell MOONEY of Graham; sons, W. Smith Graves and Ben W. Graves of Burlington and J. Wake Graves of Kimesville; sisters, Mrs.. Ola Hudson and Mrs.. Queen Isley, both of Liberty; brother, Shell M. Smith of Liberty; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Final rites are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Davis, pastor, the Rev. Boyce Whitener, pastor of Alamance Lutheran, and the Rev. Clyde W. Faulkner, pastor of Ml. Pleasant Methodist, officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington beginning at noon Friday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and at other times will beat the residence in Alamance. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
