William M. Glenn, private, age 23 was enrolled on 26 October 1861 at Fairfield, Freestone County, by Captain William Wilson. Period of Enlistment: For the War. He was mustered into service 31 October 1861 by Lt. Sparks at Hempstead. The difference between enrolled and mustered reflects the date joined(enrolled) and the date he mustered into Company D at Hempstead which was probably the Camp of Instruction for Company D. He was first paid on 28 February 1862 by Captain Stewart. During the period of 31 December 1862 to 30 June 1863 he was listed as:Died of cough at Camp Douglas 1963, Last Paid: 30 June 1862 by Captain Cox. In the Report of Deaths Co. D. 10th Regt Texas Infantry, Hqs 6,10, 15 Tex Regts (in accordance with General Order 80), dated 12 December 1863 it stated: Died Chicago Illinois 19 February 1863 of Disease, No Effects, No Money. A later entry listed the cause of his death as pneumonia. In the Roll of Prisoners of War, not dated, it listed the following: Where Captured: Arkansas Post When Captured: 11 January 1863 Date of Death: 15 February 1863 Died at Camp Douglas during Civil War References
