William Fox was born 22 April 1785, in Rowan Co., NC, son of Jacob Fox and Martha Huddleston. On 9 February 1805, he married Margaret Steadman, daughter of a SC neighbor. They lived first in SC. Between 1815 and 1820, they moved for a short time just to the north of Tuscaloosa, AL, then to Green County, Alabama, west of Eutaw. In the early 1830's William's family along with the families of two of William's brothers, Jacob, and Henry, moved to Winston County, Miss. William Fox farmed just to the west of Louisville, Miss. Margaret Steadman Fox passed away 17 April 1846 and William Fox passed away 22 March 1868. They are both buried in the Old Baptist Cemetery in Louisville, MS. Their stones, though fragile, are still standing. William's stone was struck by a mowing machine in the last few years but its five pieces have been patched, cleaned, and put back in place.
