2009-Roanoke Times-Roanoke, VA - William McKinley Farmer, Jr- William McKinley (Bill) Farmer, Jr., 83, of Dublin, VA., died early Sunday morning, March 8, 2009, in the Edgemont Center, Wytheville, VA. He was born in Bland County on October 26, 1925, and was the son of the late William McKinley Farmer Sr. and Earlie Mobley Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Hudson Farmer. Mr. Farmer was a retired employee of Burlington Industries, Dublin, a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and was Methodist by faith. Surviving are one sister; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Henry and Vickie Higginbotham, Dean and Nancy Hill, Grace Hamblin, Bill Spivey, Scott Bowen, and Billy Hamblin. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, from the Goshen Cemetery, Bland County, Va., with the Rev. Bill Hinton and Chaplain James R. "Bucky" Cox officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.
