The following resolution passed by the Legislature of the State of New York at their session in 1814.Resolved that the further consideration of the bill entitled An Act to erect a part of the Town of Catskill, and a part of the Town of Coxsackie,into a seperate town by the name of Athens, Coxsackie was in Albany Coutny until abt 1800.


His name first appears on a tax list in 1787. (Coxsackie, Albany County) A Tax List of the District of Coxsackie, agreeable to a warrant assigned to us the subscribers' assessors of said District, dated the 12th day of June 1787 by the Board of Supervisors for the County of Albany, at 2 1/2 d. on a pound. This requires William Edwards to pay 1 shilling. He is the only Edwards on the tax list.
