Facts and Events
William was a Revolutionary Patriot from Guilford County, North Carolina. He served as one of the Minute Men during the War of the Rebellion. He participated in the Battle of Guilford Court House in North Carolina. He was a soldier-patriot who received payment for services rendered. (Vol. 6, pg. 54, Folio 2, NC Rev. Army Accounts) In 1805, he migrated to Posey County, Indiana. He bought land there in 1814. William died in 1831 and his estate papers list a wife, Elizabeth, and a son, Peter, with other children unnamed. The witnesses were Thomas Alcorn and James Casey. His tombstone is marked "Rev. Sol." He may have been born in Prince Edward County, Virginia. |
