According to Matt Dailey, William moved to SD from Iowa in 1878, following James who’d gone a couple of years earlier. According to his obit, Will taught at Osage Academy. In 1905, Will was a 49 yo farmer living in Lone Rock Twp., Moody County, SD. The census shows he’s been living in SD for 27 years (since 1878) and that both of his parents had been born in Ireland. His birthplace is listed as “Michel” Iowa. Those living in his household include, Mrs. Will Dailey, Robert Dailey (22yo), Lawrence Dailey (21 yo), Eddie Dailey (22 yo.), and Tora Strand (a 24 yo from Norway whose occupation is listed as house work.)
