CREWE, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, who was enrolled May 9, 1934 at Fort Niagara, NY, was discharged to accept other employment. "Said William H. CREWE was born in Lewiston in the State of New York. When enrolled he was 19 years of age and by occupation a farmer. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. William H. Crewe, 66, of 5686 Frontier Ave died in Memorial Medical Center yesterday (Oct 18, 1983) after a lengthy illness. Born in Wilson, the son of the late Rudolph and Kathleen (Stroh) Crewe, he worked at the former Autolite Corp in Niagara Falls for 23 years and at Mt St Mary's Hospital for four years. He lived in Lewiston and Youngstown before moving to Niagara falls 19 years ago. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Buttery); five daughters, Mrs Peter (Grace) Austin of Ransomville, Mrs Albert (Alice) Williams, Evelyn Gilmer and Charlene Crewe of Niagara Falls and Mrs Robert (Linda) St Cyr of Model City; three sons, Kenneth and Charles of Niagara Falls and Russell of Youngstown; three brothers, Richard, Howard and Raymond Crewe of Lewiston; and 16 grandchildren. he was the brother of the late Dorothy Crewe and the late Edna Rolfe. Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm tomorrow at the Hardison Funeral Home, Lewiston. Burial will be at North Ridge Cemetery. |
