William Comstock (William, John, William) born June 15, 1698; died 1765; married (1st) Mary (or Rebecca) Bates, b. 1712; d. March 29, 1743, dau. of James Bates; married (2nd) Abigail --, who d. April 16, 1746; married (3rd) Elizabeth Beckwith.
Will of June 19, 1765 (witnesses swore to the will Sept. 10, 1765) makes bequests to wife Elizabeth and to children, William, James, Jesse, Ichabod, Noah, Mary, Anne, Ruth, Naomi, Abigail, and Elizabeth. John and Curtis Comstock witnesses.
William Comstock owned land both in Lyme and East Haddam. Noah was his youngest son.
Benajah McCall of Hancock, Mass., shows Conn. Assembly in May, 1777, that in May, 1768, he married Abigail Comstock of Lyme, Conn.; that in 1772 her brother Ichabod died; that by his death 20 A. fell to Abigail and her brother Jesse; that they were the sole heirs; that in 1772 Benajah McCall and wife Abigail sold 10 A. to Jesse Comstock, but that Abigail died before the deed was given; Benajah asks authority to give deed.
William Comstock resided in Lyme, Conn., where his children were born.
