WILL: His mother, Agnes Carpenter wrote her will on 23 April 1546. William was alive when the will was written. William was her sole executor. "I will that the said Thomas shall deliver to my executor or Overseer, not given or bequeathed the residue of my goods, I give and bequeath unto William Carpenter my Sonne, the which I do make him my sole Executor, to do for my soul, by his discretions and Richard Smythe, for to be my Overseer, of this my last will and Testament, and I will that he shall have for his labours 12d, witness hereof as this is my last will." Then follows a list of names that includes Richard Carpenter. "Item: I will that my Sonne, shall pay unto Richard Carpenter, my Sonne, 12d that he oweth me unto me for corn and sheep, witness hereof in perfect mynde." Probated 1546.
