His mother's will

Agnes Carpenter, widow of Godalming, Surrey, wrote her will on 23 April 1546, naming her son William as her sole executor.

"... I give and bequeath unto William Carpenter my Sonne, the which I do make him my sole Executor, to do for my soul, by his discretions and Richard Smythe, for to be my Overseer, of this my last will and Testament, and I will that he shall have for his labours 12d, witness hereof as this is my last will."
