"William Butler migrated to the colony as a single man prior to July 1, 1845. He was issued a land certificate by Thomas William Ward in 1850 as a family man. The certificate was sold unlocated ans was later patented in Collin County (Fannin Third Class No. 1119). William W. was located on the following census: 1830 census Jackson Co., MO; 1850 census Collin Co., TX; 1860 census Collin Co., TX; and 1870 census Collin Co., TX. The 1850 and 1860 census lists his state of birth as Kentucky, but the 1870 census lists it as Georgia. According to the census, William's child Alpha was born approximately 1842 in Missouri.

The Collin County Minister's Book, Vol 1, 1846-1858, lists W.W. Butler as a Justice of the Peace.
