He was ensign, 15 Mar 1704, and captain 11 Oct 1716 in the Preston Company. He was deputy from Preston 13 May 1703 and later. In his will, dated 4 June 1737 and proved 12 July 1738 he mentions his wife Hannah, his sons William (deceased), Joseph, Samuel and Roger, his daughter Mary Boardman, Prudence, Rachel Kennedy, Hannah Clarke, Elizabeth Avery, and Dorothy Edwards, and his grandchildren Dorothy Edwards (p137), William Edwards, and Hannah, daughter of his son Samuel (Deceased) (p 138).
