William is mentioned in his father's will, written in 1792, of which he was the sole executor, proving the will in 1793. Also in 1792, William was described as being a gamekeeper, being appointed by a William Beckford to manage game on Beckford's estates at Eaton Bray, Totternhoe and Bates.
