  3. Family Notes.
    • "Ludie Brown of Bogota, who passed away this year (ca. 1976) at 97 years of age, related this story. 'William Bickers told his family when he died they should go to no expense but bury him under a certain big hickory tree. He died about two years later and the family followed his wishes, burying him under the old hickory tree with no headstone or marking of any kind. this was the beginning of the Bickers Family cemetery. There used to be four or five rows of graves, but now the old hickory tree is gone and only a few stones remain, to mark this early cemetery.'" (1884 Jasper Co., IL History)
