William Barnes was baptised on 28th July 1725 at Hitchin in Hertfordshire, son of Ann Barnes, formerly Jeeves, and her husband William Barnes, a woolcomber. William was the youngest of the couple's three children. When William was five years old his mother Ann died.

In 1768, William was one of the beneficiaries of his aunt Elizabeth Bennett's will. She was his late mother's sister, and he was left £10.

William had yet to be researched after 1768.
