Mary Barnes was baptised on 1st March 1723 at Hitchin in Hertfordshire, daughter of Ann Barnes, formerly Jeeves, and her husband William Barnes, a woolcomber. Mary was the second of the couple's three children. In 1730, when Mary was seven years old, her mother Ann died.

In 1768, Mary was one of the beneficiaries of her aunt Elizabeth Bennett's will. Elizabeth Bennett was Mary's late mother's sister, and Mary was left £10. Mary was described as the wife of Joseph Mardall, although their marriage has yet to be found.

Mary had yet to be researched after 1768.
