- Bedford Co., TN Court Records, September Term 1852
- This day James P. Allison produced in open Court a paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of William Allison deceased, and which was found amongst his valuable papers dated 28th June 1852 and thereupon came Price G. Steele, Leonard Bullock, Joseph P. Thompson and M.R. Rushing who after duly sworn state that they are each severaly acquainted with the hand writing of William Allison dec'd and the paper writing thus produced is in the handwriting of William Allison dec'd. Whereupon the Court ordered that the same paper writing be admitted in record as the last will and testament of William Allison dec'd.
- And then Johnson Jordan & Benjamin Williams who were jointly appointed by the testalery? executions of said will with James P. Allison in open Court renounced the Execution of the same; and thereupon James P. Allison was regulasly? appointed the Executor of said Will, gave bond with Johnson Jordan and Benjamin Williams as his security on the same in the sum of twenty thousand dollars, which being acknowledged in open Court by the said James P. Allison & his securities approved by the court ~
- And thereupon James P. Allison was duly qualified as such Executor of the last will and testament of William Allison dec'd.
- This day Charity Allison by her attorney Edmund Cooper produced in open court and filed her written dissent to the will of her deceased husband William Allison and asked to have teh same spread? on the minutes of the court ~
- Which is accordingly done in the words and figures following:
- To the worshipful County Court of Bedford County.
- Being disatisfied with the provisions made by my late husband William Allison in his last will and testament, and which is admitted to record by your worshipful court/ and prefering to take the portion of said estate which would come to me if my husband had died intestate, I do hereby dissent from his said last will and testament and elect to take the portion of said estate coming to me under the lases of Descent? and Distribution in this s___ ~ and ask that your order that this y despint? in said will may be spread? on the minutes of the court.this __ day of September 1852
