Notes for William Henry ALLEN:
William is supposed to have been six feet six inches, and his mental achievements were as remarkable as his physical ones. At one time he held the office of the territorial governor of Florida. (Source: Biographical Record of Harford and Cecil Counties, Maryland, Family Line Publications, Westminster, MD, 1989, p.418)
Although some have interpreted that William's monumental inscription to read that he died at the age of 12, and I had difficulty deciphering whether he was 12 or 42, I decided on the latter, based on his mother's age. Bible verse inscribed on tombstone is from John, Chap. 1, verse 25: "I am the Resurrection..."
