Margaret Adair BLACK, daughter of James BLACK, married William ALEXANDER 4sep1847 in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, and 5sep1847 in Barony parish. From “Annals of the Free Church of Scotland 1843-1900” (ed. William Ewing, 1914): William Alexander was born in 1808, studied at St. Andrews University, ordained at Duntocher, Dunbartonshire 1838. He signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. For many years he was clerk of the Presbytery of Dumbarton, he became senior minister 1885 and died 1890.

In 1851 William Alexander (b. 1811 Fowlis Easter), Free Church minister at Duntocher, wife Margaret (b. 1826 Glasgow) and son George S. Marindoe Alexander (b. 1849 Old Kilpatrick) lived at Bells property, Main St., Duntocher (census). In 1861 William Alexander (b.1808 Fowlis Easter, Perthshire), minister of Duntocher Free Church, and wife Margaret (b.1827 Glasgow) lived at Free Church Manse, Main Rd., Duntocher, Dunbartonshire (census).
