Sir William Abernethy, 7th of Saltoun was the son of Sir William Abernathy, 6th of Saltoun and Lady Mary Stewart.2 He married Margaret Borthwick, daughter of Sir William Borthwick, 1st of Borthwick.1 He died on 24 July 1411 at Harlaw, Scotland, killed in action.1,3
He fought in the Battle of Harlaw.4
