W. Denver Johnston

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m in Champion Presbyterian Church for W. Denver Johnston, 96, 15955 Stephenie Lane, Los Gatos, Calif., formerly of Champion, who died Tuesday. Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Champion Township Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
He was born June 29, 1885, in Harrison County, Ohio, the son of John L. and Elizabeth Walker Johnston.
Mr. Johnston was a teacher in Champion Schools from 1935 to 1959. Prior to that he was superintendent of the Wierton, W.Va. school district from 1917 to 1932.
He was a graduate of Adrian (Mich.) College and received his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
A California resident six years, Mr. Johnston was a member of Champion Presbyterian Church, where he had served as choir director.
His wife, Dorothy Johnston, whom he married Sept. 11, 1911, died May 23, 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Nolan of Los Gatos; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the church music department.
