Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA) - July 20, 1997 MONONA, Iowa - Wayne Albert Lestina, 61, of Monona, died Friday, July 18, 1997, in Monona. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, where there will be a rosary at 7 p.m. and a scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Lestina worked at Huinker Chevrolet from 1959-68. He also owned and operated Lestina Standard from 1968 until retiring in 1997. He was born on Aug. 14, 1935, in Clayton County, son of Benjamin and Agnes (Lotza) Lestina. He married Linda Lou Doerring on Sept. 6, 1961, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona. He graduated from Monona High School in 1953, and served in the Air Force for four years. He was a member of the Monona Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, cars, camping, golfing, traveling and life. Surviving are his wife, Linda, of Monona; two daughters, Marsha (Brad) Jahnke, of Decorah, and Sheryl (Randy) Traetow, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; four grandchildren, Amanda and Carrie Traetow and Alex and Rachael Jahnke; a brother, Donald (Tillie) Lestina, of Monona; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Whittle, of Luana, and Gina Peterson, of Oelwein. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Benji; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Whittle. Image Gallery
