    MILTON - Wayne Alvin Cookson, age 71, of 19 E. Basswood, died Sun., June 21, 1998 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. He was born Feb. 3, 1927 in Milton to Adrian and Eunice Hill Cookson. He married Jacquelyn Ann Powers in Beloit on June 1, 1947. Wayne served in the Navy from 1944 until 1946. He was employed at General Motors for 30 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of UAW Local 95 and was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 367.
    Surviving are his wife; 5 children: Clint (Cherie) Cookson, Kathy (Jim) Buchs, Connie (Bill) Fleming, Theresa Cookson, and Wade (Valerie) Cookson; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert Cookson and Donald Powers; 3 sisters: Winifred Schmidt, Doris D'Angelo and Aletha Ash; and other relatives. Wayne was predeceased by his parents; and 3 brothers, Ralph, Gerald and Richard.
    Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tues., June 23, 1998 at Albrecht Funeral Home, Hwy. 26, Milton. According to his wishes, no formal funeral will be held.
