Warren E. Barnes, 92, a former resident of Doniphan, died Friday at Hemet California. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Doniphan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gilbert Karges officiating. Burial will be in Cedarview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m . Monday, 8 January 1980, at Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home.

 Mr. Barnes was born 6 June 1887, at Michigan City, Indiana. When he was a child, the family moved to the Doniphan area where he attended school and grew to manhood. He married Lillian Tabor at Doniphan where they farmed. Following her death, he continued to make his home at Doniphan until 1969 when he moved to Hemet California. Mr. Barnes was a member of the United Methodist Church.
 Survivors include on son, Howard of Hemet; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Jones of Long Beach, California; one sister, Mrs. Della Stickle of Jones, Michigan; four grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were Reynold Barnes, Earl Barnes, Wilfred Barnes, Paul Barnes, Richard Barnes and Jerry White. Source: "Grand Island (Neb.) Independent" newspaper obituary, (no date)
