Barnes, lifelong resident of New Buffalo, died at 3:30, friday afternoon in the Fairview Hospital in LaPorte. He had been ill one month. Mr. Barnes was a farmer. He was born here Jan. 28, 1860, the son of Samuel and Harriet (Kirsted) Barnes. He was married to Belle Warren who died 15 years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ephron Nicklin of New Buffalo and Mrs. Bentzley Stickle of Three Oaks and three sons, Guy Barnes of Phillips, Neb., Warren Barnes of Doniphan, Neb., and Hugh Barnes of New Buffalo. He was a member of the Methodist church here. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Dobbertin officiated. Burial was in the Pine Grove cemetery.
