    Chester Loomis was Rushville, N.Y.'s first Postmaster, an associate County Jusge, and a State Senator as well as one of Rushville's most respected citizens and businessmen all of his active life. He kept a diary and the following are excerpts from it:
    page 145 - "In the Queenston battle Walter White of Gorham and Archilabld A. Porter of Middlesex was killed. Lewis Hoyt of Middlesex dangerously wounded. Ensign Z. Morse of Gorham crossed in the first boats and recrossed after the second. Many of those wounded in the first and second battle were immediately brought over on this side of the River."
