    “Wally” Passed away on Monday Nov. 20, 2017, in Appleton, WI at the age of 79. Wally was born on Feb. 12, 1938 to Victor and Margaret Steindl in Edgerton, WI. He married the love of his life, Rosemary “Chic” Steindl, July 2, 1960, sharing almost 50 years together. Wally and Chic dedicated their young years raising their family but did make time to travel, attend Badger and Packers football games and tinker in their garden. She took care of the flowers and he grew veggies of all kinds. Wally enjoyed sports his entire life. He cherished his friendships he made while playing football, basketball and baseball, many lasting a lifetime. He later played golf and made even more connections. The winters were spent playing cards and reliving the ‘old days’ with his buddies. Wally was lucky his children and grandchildren played sports and he was on the sideline cheering them on. He was very proud of each one. He was a skilled machinist and carpenter, always having a project going. He enjoyed building various household items and rarely found something he could not repair.
    Wally is survived by his children: Terri (Kevin) Wirth of Appleton, WI, Maurine Steindl of Milton, WI, Marty (Ann Collins) Steindl of Springfield, IL and Ericka (Scott) Nelson of Hudson, WI. Dear grandfather, of: Chris Miller, Maggie Miller, Hannah Miller, Aaron (Michelle) Wirth, Taylor Wirth, Rachael Wirth, Kellen Steindl, and Lexie (Brett) Jackson. Dear brother of, Edward Steindl. Further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. Wally is preceded in death by his wife, Chic; his parents; brothers, Roger and Kenneth Steindl; and sister, Joyce Babcock.
    Memorial visitation will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 100 West Rollin Street in Edgerton on Saturday December 2nd from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Private interment at Fassett Cemetery.
