Rosemary C. "Chic" Steindl, 71, of Milton, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Jan. 27, 2009, at her home. She was born on May 20, 1937, in Aniwa, WI, daughter of the late Otto & Velma (Edgell) Medo. She was a graduate of Wisconsin Dells High School, Class of 1955. She, then attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Janesville, graduating in 1958. On July 2, 1960, she married Walter L. Steindl in Wisconsin Dells. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 45 years, working at Mercy Hospital, Edgerton Hospital, and then at Ft. Atkinson Hospital until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton. Chic was an avid reader, enjoying all kinds of novels. She was very skilled at sewing and knitting, and also enjoyed quilting. She was a wonderful cook, and loved entertaining her family and friends. She will be remembered and missed for being a great listener, and was a true friend to everyone. She would never give advice without being asked. She will also be remembered as a very tolerant and patient person, who made time for anybody who needed a "sounding board". She was a true "caregiver" in every sense of the word! Chic also loved feeding and watching the cardinals that came to visit her home! Her greatest joy in life came from her husband, children, and especially her grandchildren and stepgrandchildren!
She is survived by her husband, Wally; her four children: Teresa (Kevin) Wirth of Appleton, WI, Maurine (Scott) Kruckenberg of Ft. Atkinson, WI, Marty (Ann) Steindl of Springfield, IL, and Ericka (Scott) Nelson of Hudson, WI; her two brothers, Patrick (Rose) Medo of Neenah, WI, and Michael (Marilyn) Medo of Argyle, TX; her five grandchildren: Christopher, Maggie, and Hannah Miller, and Kellen and Lexie Steindl; her six step-grandchildren: Ryan Kruckenberg, Ryan and Jamie Kleimenhagen, Aaron, Taylor, and Rachael Wirth; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
