!Walter lived in Durham since 1948. He worked for Rowe-Goodwin & Jones Construction Co. until his retirement in 1970. He was a Baptist. He died in his home at the age of 84 from "ischemic heart disease". He had lived at 1834 Forest Road for over 40 years. His graveside funeral service was held at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. There were obituaries in Durahm & Raleigh, NC newspapers. When they were first married, Walter and Thelma lived in a duplex on Penman St. behind the Parker Grocery Store.
