COOP - Walter A. Coop died Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Coop was born Aug. 9, 1900, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Coop of Jefferson County, Iowa.
On April 29,1928, he was united in marriage with Mona Agans. To this marriage a son, Stanley and a daughter, Shirley were born. In 1940 the family moved to Lucas County.
During a life as a farmer, realtor and insurance broker, he served in his church and many civic organizations. He was a member of the Town Council, the Lucas County Board of Education, the South Central Board of Realtors, and the Lucas County Hospital Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and in his long membership in the church, he served in several offices, and for the past year was chairman of the Administrative Board.
He is survived by his wife, Mona, of Russell, a daughter, Mrs. John Lawless, her husband and their three children of Albany, Ga.; a son, Stanley and his wife and their three children of South Pasadena, Calif.; a brother, Harry Coop, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Goltry of Fairfield.
Services were held by the Woodman Funeral Home in the Russell Methodist Church, October 15th with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell officiating. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
